All our recipes are from tradional cuisine in north of Naxos where our family comes from ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE
Faros restaurant opened its doors on 4th of july, 1992. Not an easy task for a family to growing four boys at the same time! However it was a dream and a great opportunity to offer what mama Irini already cooked for all the family despite working as a philologist at the same time in Naxos! During all these years of hard working and love for the Greek cuisine, we are proud that Faros tou Alykou, has become synonymous with family hospitality, fresh homemade food and honest people. The base was always pure and delicious Naxian products to prepare our dishes starting with fresh vegetables and local olive oil . …a few words for Alyko
A peninsula of unique natural beauty on the southwest of Naxos, with white fine sand,
endless blue, Cedar (juniper) trees and sand dunes. On 1888 Palaeologus family bought
Alyko from the Turks Inventors and then a few years later it became a public land.
During the dictatorship in Greece(1970), Alyko was sold to a Belgium company in order
to build a huge hotel. Fortunately that never finished and after many trials, Alyko
became again a public property and open to all. Alyko cedar forest is one of the biggest
of the 8 we have in Greece! The average age of the trees is 200-300 years and their rout
system is double the size of the tree which they create and hold the sand dunes.
Its very important to keep it clean and protect it!
